Description
Mountain Dreams #01 is my largest landscape painting to date. It is 48 inches wide by 24 inches tall. This abstract landscape painting is part of a series North Georgia Dreaming, inspired by the mystery and yearning for adventure I feel when looking at the skyline in parts of Cherokee County in North Georgia (USA). The painting was created by laying out an initial background layer with a thin wash of paint using a big brush while looking at a sketch. I then painted in lines and shadows, adding thicker layers of textured paint with brushes and palette knives. Using acrylic medium to glaze layers of paint, the result is a loose landscape painting in acrylics that has the glow and vibrancy of oils.
