Winter Beginnings #3 is a reflective piece that will mean something different to everyone who sees it. Mysterious and familiar forms glow with hidden stories. When viewed next to each other they created a new rhythm of warm and cold, familiar and strange. Warm reds and oranges surround mysterious knots of dark shapes with crusts of cool blues and whites that shift from cool to warm. Soft darkness surrounds the forms. Where I live people cut lengths of wood and stack them year-round to cure for the winter. On a walk, I discovered strange shapes and forms in a pile of randomly stacked logs. Created on gallery-wrapped canvas with glazed and impasto layers of acrylic and medium.
