Dreaming of Summer, 30 x 40, acrylic, original painting

I don’t paint flowers because they are pretty. Sunflowers mean hope and resilience to me. They are a defiant symbol of triumph when the odds are bad.

Summertime is my favorite time of year. Napping in a hammock, painting outside, meeting up with friends. Sunflowers remind me of summer in how they look and smell. I’ve been feeling pretty tired of winter. I’m ready to fast forward past spring to lazy afternoons reading or drawing on my back porch and soaking in the sun while plastered in 70+ sun block. Let’s go summer!
