Description
Tree Songs: Memory of the Big Oak was inspired by the memories I have growing up of visiting the Big Oak, a live oak in Thomasville, Georgia that is over 100 years old. The large, mossy branches would be an ideal place for hiding as a child and reading a book or watching the clouds. This is part of a series of intuitive paintings using layers of loosely painted landscapes using paint acrylic applied with brushes and palette knives to capture a reflective mood. Instead of working directly from a reference, I create sketches in a notebook first and then paint from memory.
